United Airlines Requests Ground Stop of Flights from FAA

United Airlines requested a temporary ground stop of all their flights from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Tuesday afternoon. The FAA issued an alert to airports about the stop, which lasted from 1:37 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. This temporary stoppage was due to a systemwide technology issue experienced by United Airlines. The airline stated that they were unable to contact their dispatch through normal means and that there was an equipment outage. However, specific details about the impacted equipment were not provided by either United or the FAA.

United Airlines assured passengers that flights already airborne were continuing to their destinations as planned. The airline also informed the public that they had found a fix for the technological issue and would work with affected customers to get them to their desired destinations as soon as possible.

According to flight tracking data website FlightAware, as of Tuesday, there were 7 United flights canceled and 330 delayed.
